The AAHRC seeks to honor individuals or organizations that have made outstanding contributions to human relations through volunteer work or by addressing various social issues such as (but not limited to) diversity, social or political justice, poverty, sexism, religious freedom, prisoner’s rights, discrimination, prejudice, etc. When seeking service award candidates, the Committee focuses on three fundamental elements: the way in which an individual or organization demonstrates its commitment to human relations, the way in which an individual or organization demonstrates leadership by example, and the methods an individual or organization uses to improve human relations and/or build relationships with others.
